Permaculture and Regenerative Garden Design and Education
Website Design, Brand Messaging and Copywriting
Savour Soil Permaculture are a team of conversation facilitators, designers and educators with permaculture ethics at their core. Michael and Victoria's business in the regenerative permaculture, garden design and education field is growing rapidly and their website was long overdue for a modernisation in order to help keep up with their growing audience.
Their old website was hosted in Weebly, and cobbled together over many years. Since flexibility, SEO and growth potential were their priorities for the future of their digital presence, this project involved moving their website from Weebly to WordPress (including over 100 blog posts), and redirecting the domains from a dot com dot au slug, to the more universal dot com equivalent.
Weebly, like most website platforms, has it's place, but when it comes to SEO-focussed design with the opportunity to expand the website functionality beyond "just a website", Weebly doesn't quite cut it. As Savour Soil plans to expand their audience beyond South Queensland, and indeed, beyond Australia, launch a product shop one day, and create a members-only education portal, WordPress is far and away the best option for their new remarkable digital presence.
This project also included full website copywriting, which involved conducting 1:1 interviews and questionnaires with both Victoria and Michael to draw upon their unique voices. The 100+ blog posts also helped significantly with the industry research, and establishing their brand messaging.
From a design perspective, this new version of Savour Soil called for a modern look, with much more simplified navigation. Due to the sheer amount of information available on their website, we desperately needed to make it easy for their website users to find exactly what they needed in as few clicks as possible.
This meant introducing a simplified way to understand and enquire about Savour Soil's services, courses and workshops. It also meant creating a more detailed blog post categorisation system, which not only helps to improve SEO, but also simplifies the customer journey throughout the website.
The rich greens and earthy browns are complemented by curated stock imagery with a focus on the "hands-on" approach of permaculture. I also introduced an arrow motif reminiscent of the recycling arrow, as a visual reference to the regenerative nature of permaculture design.
During my 8+ year career in digital marketing working with soulful not-for-profit and innovative companies that are here to make a difference, I found a love of website design and everything that goes into it. Website design is that rare unicorn that lets me combine my creativity with my love of problem-solving, technology and good old-fashioned strategy.
Through my marketing background, I am well-placed to make strategic design choices for your website that not only look good but actually allow your website to function like marketing on automation. Imagine it; your little slice of online that tells your dream customers and clients exactly who you are, while guiding them on a journey that empowers them to make an informed decision about working with you.
I create websites that convert by adhering to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) meaning no website visitor is left behind and utilising tried and true digital marketing techniques. So your website will do the hard work for you, while you’re busy doing what you’re really good at – making the world a better place for your clients and customers.
For 5 years now, I’ve been creating beautiful, functional websites that showcase how remarkable my clients and their businesses truly are.
If you’re ready for an easy to use website that will grow and evolve as you do, that shouts about how remarkable you are to your like-minded community, get in touch.
I acknowledge the First Nations people as the Traditional Owners of the land on which I live and work, i.e. Meanjin, Brisbane. Sovereignty was never ceded.
